My Portfolio
Portfolio

With a writing career spanning several decades, I've built up a significant portfolio of work. Beyond the outdoor and travel writing that I'm known for today, my background includes project management, website design and implementation, graphic design, magazine and newsletter editing and production, and technical writing. Back in my misty past, I was also a systems analyst, software designer, and programmer ... but those are not days I plan to return to. However, the skills learned in that field help me analyze, organize, and complete projects efficiently. I graduated from the University of Pittsburgh in 1992 with one of their first Bachelor of Science degrees in the emerging field of Information Science: the collection, classification, manipulation, storage, retrieval, and dissemination of information. My study focus was on semantics, human-computer interaction, and the psychology of design. So when people ask me ... how do you put together great websites so quickly? ... that's why.

In 2006, I founded Genuine Florida, a consulting and content creation firm focused on providing quality content and products to PR firms, publications, local tourism boards, and more. My husband, artist Rob Smith, Jr., and I work together on projects, and bring in other talented Floridians as projects require.
